Masterclass 2020

The Úterý Organ Masterclass 2020 will take place on August 24-29, 2020. The lecturer will be Professor Jürgen Essl (Musikhochschule Stuttgart). This year's masterclass focuses on the following topics:

South-German Organ Music of the 17th and 18th Centuries

Improvisation in Various Styles on Smaller Historical Instruments

The masterclass will begin on August 24 in the evening with a lecture by organologist Dr Petr Koukal entitled "The organ in Bohemian Lands. Any 'South-German connection'?"

The masterclass will include the traditional closing concert of the participants at the St John the Baptist church in Úterý. A subsequent concert by selected participants will take place on September 5, 2020, in Amberg.

We are monitoring the restrictions in the Czech Republic and Bavaria related to the Covid-19 epidemic and their impact on the masterclass. At the moment, we expect to be able to organise the event without significant changes. We will inform the registered participants about the current conditions before the masterclass.

The Úterý Organ Masterclass 2020 is supported by the Pilsen Region, the Czech-German Fund for the Future, the Bavarian-Czech Cross-border cooperation Operational Programme Ziel ETZ and the municipality of Úterý. The masterclass is included in the project Baroque Region Bohemia Bavaria.
